It Was Scones All Round For The Wadjil Classroom

31/07/2023

Court Haas, Otis’s Dad, visited us today to help us all bake buttermilk cookies (scones) as part of Wadjil’s classroom cooking session!

Children learned how to mix the dough, flatten it and then shape the cookies using cups.

When the scones were cooked, we enjoyed them with raspberry and strawberry jam. They were delicious!

Baking Bread for Afternoon Tea

05/06/2023

On Thursday, Defne’s parents visited MMS to teach us how to cook delicious Turkish bread. They have a beautiful Turkish restaurant in Glen Huntly Road called Arda.

Children made the dough, learnt how to knead it and shape it and then they added sesame seeds and orange juice to make the golden colour of the bread.

Later in the day, the children enjoyed afternoon tea and ate their fresh bread with jam and they all took some Turkish bread home, too. The activity was all organised and self-directed by the children and they did a fantastic job.

Purim Celebration

15/03/2023

Here is a little snapshot to show how the Wadjil class celebrated Purim with art and craft and Louie’s Mum, Hannah.

To celebrate Purim and with Hannah’s help, children decorated their own masks.

Then, Louie’s Mum read a story about Purim and the children got involved by spinning a gregger – a special traditional musical instrument – every time they heard the name ‘Haman’.

Purim is a Jewish commemoration and people celebrate it by dressing up and sharing a festive meal.
