Looking to the Future
13/11/2023
Our Cycle 5s have made the most of a range of experiences as they prepare to step into adult life. Students were challenged to think about their future careers and got a taste some of the interesting activities they can look forward to.
Our Cycle 5 students made their way to Bayswater to attend a driving school. Students got into the driver’s seat and drove in different situations. Year 9s spent time with Nadia, our Careers teacher, and discussed the tools and processes used to move into a career.
Cycle 4 and 5 students also travelled to the University of Melbourne and Swinburne University to discover the study programs on offer and a little about campus life.
Following Tradition
16/10/2023
During a unit on pets and animals, Cycle 5 Mandarin students tried the traditional art of Chinese painting. They were taught how to skilfully use a Chinese brush to paint animals like dogs and cats. This activity is a significant part of the Mandarin curriculum and seamlessly integrates Chinese culture into the students’ educational experience. By immersing themselves in the art, students gain hands-on experience and cultivate creativity and an appreciation and love for Chinese culture. This hands-on approach enhances their understanding and connection to the language and culture that they are learning.
Learning More About Youth Homelessness
28/08/2023
Cycle 5 and Montessori Careers Program (MCP) students ventured into the city for the Melbourne City Mission (MCM) Front Yard session on Monday, 14 August. Our presenter, Belinda, shared some powerful insights and stories about young people who are grappling with youth homelessness. Those stories brought a tangible human dimension to the issue for students and staff. Belinda’s presentation highlighted the importance of community assistance and inventive approaches in tackling the complex issue of youth homelessness.
It left students feeling motivated to champion change and to raise money for MCM’s programs through a Sleeping Rough Fundraiser in Term 4 that is being organised by Ella in MCP.
Discovering Ancient Geometry

In Cycle 5 Mathematics, students began Term 2 with a study of Euclidean geometry. Seen in the photo, two students stayed back after class to explore different strategies to solve a challenging geometrical problem. Next up, Cycle 5 students will dive deeper into the world of triangles and investigate trigonometric functions.
